UNIX Systems Administrator / Webmaster 1-99 to 5-99
   Project lead on a large Y2K server conversion project concerned with migrating over 200 Netscape Enterprise servers. The process involved setting up new Solaris 2.6 boxes to move all the servers to, then moving each individual server instance from the Solaris 2.5.1 boxes, and in the process, upgrading the Netscape Enterprise servers to version 3.6 from version 2.01. Other responsibilities included troubleshooting the new migrations, helpdesk for site producers, technical documentation and heavy use of Perl and shell scripts to accomplish large workloads quickly.

Network Systems Engineer   5-98 to 11-98
   Part of a high-profile network engineering team focusing on small and large business intranet/internet solutions, individual focus was placed on UNIX server build-up and administration. Responsibilities also included assistance in Novell and Microsoft network conversion and connectivity projects. Some private website design and custom graphics were also included. Responsible for ongoing support and maintenance of several Sun SPARC stations and a SCO OpenServer5 box.

   Was responsible for the design and layout of hundreds of corporate intranet documents, including custom graphics design, frequent updates, and non-lossy conversion of corporate documents to HTML format. Also worked on the internet website design team working with digital cameras, custom graphics and layouts, and JavaScript. Work encompassed use of PhotoShop 4.01, Painter5, Wacom tablet and Epson PhotoPC camera on an NT4 network environment. WebPages were designed and published using FrontPage98, Dreamweaver 1.2 and Netscape Gold to a BSD webserver.

   Worked as a freelance contractor/consultant on many projects for Mid-States Tech, a full-time contracting and engineering firm. Projects included the conversion of an AS/400 midrange to an internet server, ongoing AS/400 and SDLC network management and administration, telephone helpdesk support for Windows clients, telecommunications connectivity for communications software, and large-scale network conversion and upgrades on token-ring and ethernet clients for Novell and MS networks. Was also responsible for investigating and developing bandwidth improvements and security measures for intranet/internet communications. All contracts were project-based and completed successfully.

   Worked as a bench technician and salesperson at Uptech Computer for three months. Main objectives were to troubleshoot and repair PCs, as well as custom configuration and PC upgrades. Sales and building of new PCs was also an emphasized task.

   Successfully owned and operated sole-proprietorship geared towards on-site sales and service to home users and small businesses. A majority of the work was centered around PC troubleshooting and repair. Some network engineering and management was also required, including installation of network cabling and hardware. Dissolved company in August of 1996 in order to move to Louisville, Kentucky for further employment opportunities.
