| "Maid Marian" by Jim Groat. |
I decided to do something a little different for my third costume. I decided to change my gender. There's a lot of female suits out there, and I'm willing to bet four out of five of them are worn by men. If not more. For this femsuit, as female fursuits are occasionally called, I decided to make a horse. A mare. Thus was born Maid Marian. Mare-ian. Get it? Ha. Hmmph. Nobody ever gets it. Grumble...
Using that name, of course, I need a Robin Hood - who is a robin, of course. I haven't found anyone to be him, yet, but that's ok, since he's not built yet, either.
This costume went fairly fast. This is because all I made were the head and gloves; I figured I don't have the figure to be convincingly female, so I'd best rely on clothing for that. So I made enough to cover my human skin and used a corset and stuffed bra under the dress to help give me the right shape. For the dresses seen in the gallery, I borrowed the first and bought the other off EBay from an outfit named Galileo Gowns.
As seems typical of costumes I make, this one is not easy to put on. Part of my goal was to make people who see me in this costume to think that it really is a woman under all that dress. My physique is not especially feminine, however. I had to get a goodly amount of body shapers to make it at least plausible. Under the dress itself is a corset and a bra and one of those things that pads out the hips. Then comes the dress, and the fur. Trust me when I say this costume is more complex than it looks!
